FAQ

Q. Will I get into trouble if I download these albums?

A. Not at all. The artists featured on this blog have willingly allowed their music to be downloaded, usually under a Creative Commons license. Sometimes, the copyright expires for older music, and thus, it falls into public domain, to be freely heard by anyone without restraints.

Q. Why don’t you feature Metallica/Britney Spears/Sex Pistols/Eminem?

A. Until they have albums that can be downloaded freely without restrictions, it is highly unlikely that big name artists will ever be featured here. The general exception to the rule at the moment seem to be Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead, so we could be witnessing a shift in the way the music industry works. Until then, I cannot offer any big name artists for download.

Besides, it is unfair to generalize, as some of the music offered is indeed by well-renown artists. And the whole point of the blog is to learn about lesser known musicians, is it not?

Q. What programs do you use to sort your music out?

A. I personally use the Magic MP3 Tagger to sort out my music and keep everything organized. It can be downloaded from here. Any music that is personally ripped from CDs that I would have bought is converted to 320kbps bitrate mp3s and stored in an iTunes database. iTunes may be downloaded from here.

Q. What should I do as a fan of Free Music Domain?

A. Well, if you have a Facebook account, you could become a fan of the Free Music Domain page featured here. You could also post comments or rate the bands you like. Also, you could suggest new artists to be featured.

Q. Where should I send an e-mail to in order to suggest artists to be featured?

A. You may send an e-mail to freemusicdomain@gmail.com if you would like to suggest any artists to be featured next.

Very well done! I love some of the artists you are featuring! I would suggest you put some Local Music… I’m sure there are some bands which would love to have their album featured on this blog :)

    Thanks for the comment Matthew.

As stated above, unless local artists offer music that is free to download, I cannot host it on the blog, due to copyright restrictions and accusations of piracy. Thus, I have limited myself strictly to albums that are legally free to download.

That is not to say that all the music featured on this site is by unknown artists. It is true that the majority are unknown, but this could be demonstrated as an effort in the promotion of new music.

Thanks for adding Free Music Domain to the Top Blogs section!
